Clarity is key to communication. In both illustration and design, helping people communicate with visual clarity is paramount.
Scientific illustration is visual communication for science, both within the fields of science and from science to the outside world. Illustrations of specimens, concepts or a mixture of both clarify things that cannot easily be seen or understood. I take particular delight when my formal training in biology comes to bear and is useful to the project.
